Cocktails and Movies Review: “Man of Steel” – A Soaring Success

Cocktails and Movies Flies With The Man of Steel -And Comes Back To Earth Wanting More… With Just A Couple Tweaks.

Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) has always been a little different. He’s stronger than most people,Cocktails and Movies Man of Steel and faster for that matter. He’s even more attuned to what’s going on around him, and he uses these abilities to help people in need. What he’s about to learn is that he’s the last child of a dead world. A world whose avarice and rejection of logical thought had doomed their planet to destruction (metaphor much?). A world that his father (Russell Crowe) tried to save even in the face of a ruthless adversary (Michael Shannon), by sending him to a planet far, far away. Clark Kent may look like an ordinary man, but truth be told he’s something much more… super.

Requiem for a Showman: Why We’ll Miss Seth at The Oscars

cocktails and movies seth mcfarlaneIt’s been a fair amount of time since the Oscars for 2013 were on, and now’s about as good a time as any to lament the loss of a key component in the limited success of this year’s show: departing host Seth MacFarlane. True, the numbers were their best since Ellen DeGeneres had hosted in 2006 (at least that’s what I was told), but in various media our intrepid host said “No way” would he ever host the touch the Oscars again. MacFarlane’s shtick wasn’t perfect, but rarely is any Oscar telecast, frankly. At least it wasn’t another David Letterman show or an Allen Carr produced nightmare that used Snow White, Hollywood Nostalgia, and liberal usage of Rob Lowe’s non singer’s singing voice. It wasn’t even anywhere near the abysmal job that James Franco did and Anne Hathaway tried to clean up back in 2011, so really we should be counting our lucky stars here
