Good Friday morning, Mixers! It feels like only a week ago, we were talking about how Spider-Man: Homecoming was the movie to beat. And, let history repeat itself, as superhero movie tend to show strong, but diminished returns. Of course, this is also the weekend War for the Planet of the Apes opens, which means there’s a chance that Caesar might be victorious.

But, while WFTPOTA will most likely win the box office, Spider-Man: Homecoming is still strong and we doubt that Apes will reach the $100 million mark. And will Wish Upon just end up as collateral damage in this box office fight?

But, of course, that doesn’t mean there’s no other films showing at the market, so that leaves us with the usual duty of evaluating the box office market as we usually do. The Transformers are back, and not a moment too soon as June’s about to wrap without an impressive hit, besides Wonder Woman. And yet, here we are, staring down the barrel of a new Transformers movie, possibly the last to feature Michael Bay at the helm and Mark Wahlberg in the lead. But can it muster enough clout to take cinemas by storm? Or are the already declining returns going to show this film the door? Let’s take a look for ourselves, and find out what’s on tap!

If you’re like us, dear Mixers, you’re probably still reeling from the awe that Patty Jenkins’ masterwork that was Wonder Woman. But, as any box office analyst will tell you, rarely does a film perform that largely in a first weekend, without a huge drop the following weekend. Will Diana and company be able to stave off second place, as the new contenders of the box office close in? Can The Mummy or It Comes At Night scare up some big time dollars? Or will Megan Leavey feed this weekend’s competition to the dogs? There’s a lot of questions, and we’re going to answer all of them, in this week’s report.
