Wishes and a pretty bird vie for Black Panther’s throne in a light weekend

Whaddya Got on Tap 2.2.18

Black Panther continues to reign at the box office, surpassing even the most optimistic outlooks on it’s box office take. While we think that it has yet another $50 million box office weekend, there are a lot of movies coming out in the next month and next 90 days that will have all our money.

This week, it’s a return to the 70’s and 80’s as we return to Cold War Era spy movies and a reboot of a violent anti-violence movie that made a house hold name of Charles Bronson. So, let’s take a look at the weekend and ask you, “Whaddya Got on Tap?” Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 02/23/18

Cocktails and Movies Whaddya Got on Tap 2.23.18

Well, Black Panther has come and swept the nation and all the money in sight last weekend. Sure, it was a four day weekend, but BP surpassed our estimates by $70 million! It’s really a great movie, so go see it if you haven’t. But, this week, new movies have arrived. A mixed bag for everyone to enjoy with a love movie, adult game night and a new film from the creator of Ex Machina, one of our favorite movies in the last few years.

So, let’s see what’s new this week as we ask every Friday, “Whaddya Got On Tap?” Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 02/16/18

Well, now we are getting somewhere! Another four day weekend! We’ve been in a bit of doldrums this year so far, with nothing really big to point to. So, let’s see what’s new this week as we ask you “Whaddya Got On Tap?”

Duwayne’s Pick: Black Panther!  I am a comic book fan and an even bigger fan of the MCU movies. I liked the Black Panther in the comics and I was excited to see him get his own movie. What we see of him in Civil War was great. And this movie looks like it’s going to be one hell of a movie. The SFX look great, Wakanda looks awesome, and the characters look great. I’m seeing this a few times opening weekend.

Tim’s Pick: Black Panther. It’s Marvel and I can’t see myself NOT going.

The Weekend Top Five:

1. Black Panther – it’s going to take a lot of money if Fandango numbers are an indication
Estimated Weekend: $170 million

2. Early Man – a distant second
Estimated Weekend: $45 million

3. Sampson – look for this to make a little each week
Estimated Weekend: $20 million

4. 50 Shades Freed – meh, there’s better Cinemax fare out there, trust us
Estimated Weekend: $18 million

5. The 15:17 to Paris – I would put Peter Rabbit here but I think it’s going to get swallowed by Early man
Estimated Weekend: $10 million
