Can anyone set the box office afire as it continues to smolder?

Whaddaya Got On Tap oct 13thWhat the hell is happening out there, Mixers? Blade Runner 2049 somehow fell flat on its face, and we don’t know how that even happened. It’s lead to some late nights, and some heavy glassware cleansing, as we tend to polish our rocks glasses as we think in the office. But instead of sinking any more time into such sad prospects, we’re ready to look to the future! There’s some big new flicks coming out this week, and we’re not going to let this dark patch put us off of our cocktails or our movies. So let’s fill a glass, and see what’s coming to the Tap this weekend here on Friday the 13th as we ask, “Whaddya Got On Tap?” Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 10/06/17

FINALLY! A sequel we didn’t know we needed meets ponys and blizzards whaddya got on tap 10.6.17 cover

Mixers, you don’t know how hard it’s been to wait for Blade Runner 2049. And now it’s finally here! We can stop looping the Final Cut of Ridley Scott’s original, as well as constantly passing each other in the hallway with utterances of “Too bad she won’t live. Then again, who does?” or any other line that comes to mind. (Tim here: The ’92 director’s cut of Bladerunner is one of my top two favorite movies – tied with Casablanca – and I was not and still not entirely sold on this sequel. BUT, I will still see it.)

That’s not the only film out in theaters this weekend, as there are a couple other contenders that want some of that sweet box office pie. So without any further delay, let’s look at this weekend’s field, so we can get out of here and get in line at the local multiplex as we ask you, like we do EVERY Friday: Whaddya Got on Tap? October at Cocktails and Movies starts, three challengers, two strong hold overs and not enough glasses

October starts Sunday, but we here at Cocktails and Movies have been trying to spruce up the offices a bit, so that we can scare up the thrills of the Halloween season a little earlier than most. While others might be content with just 13 days of Halloween, we tend to enjoy all 31 days of October, with some extras before and after that range added for good measure. After all Mixers, if Christmas can get some extra hoopla, then surely the season of the witch deserves some more love in its corner. However, what’s not scary is this weekend’s potential box office, as we seem to be mostly over that rough patch we saw throughout this entire summer.

That in mind, let’s put away the cobwebs and Absinthe for a second, let Mike continue to pick the box office and look at what’s heading our way with this Friday’s “Whaddya Got On Tap?” Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 09/22/17

Can IT scare up even more record breaking business, or are the Kingsman set to conquer again?

Fall has officially… fallen upon us, Mixers; yet you wouldn’t know it by the thermometer. With the temperatures still a bit higher than usual, we’re taking out Apple Cider chilled, and with a healthy dose of vodka, for the time being. Even the box office looks like it’s still running on summer time, as some decent looking films are headed to theaters this weekend. But can any of them unseat the two weekend champion, IT? Let’s see what’s in store, and find out as we at ask every Friday, “Whaddya Got on Tap?” Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 09/15/17

mother! and American Assassin try to break the Pennywise stranglehold whaddya got on tap 9.15.17

After last week’s record shattering start to IT, we’re kind of wondering why anyone new decided to show up to the dance this weekend? But, as you already know dear Mixers, when there’s a reigning champ high on the hog, there’s always at least one gunning for its defeat. And, as luck would have it, this week has two competitors in the mix for box office supremacy. One is a paperback right off of the local bookstore’s shelf, and the other is… well, kind of like that, albeit for different reasons altogether. But only one can be the victor of the newcomers, and quite possible the ruler of the box office. Let’s find out what we’ve got headed our way as we ask you every Friday, “Whaddya Got On Tap?”
