Unforgettable is and The Promise doesn’t, while Fate still rules

Monday Morning Hangover Report
Good morning, mixers. Well, the boys who drive really fast cars can enjoy another Monday of  mimosas, as Fate of the Furious still rules the box office as expected. That might change in a couple of weekends. Okay, it WILL change with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hitting theaters next Thursday night. But, how did the four new movies end up? Well, let’s just say that there’s a big call for bloody mary’s this morning…

Let’s get this show on the road, as we bring you the Cocktails and Movies Monday Morning Hangover Report.

Before we get into the particulars, let’s grab a cocktail and take a look at what transpired this weekend at the box office.

  3. Beauty and the Beast – $9.9 million
  4. Born in China – $5.1 million
  5. Going in Style – $5 million
  6.  Smurfs: the Lost Village – $4.8 million

Overall, it was a very quiet weekend at the box office. No new movie made it into the top five, with the exception of Born in China which we didn’t seven see coming. Of the new four, Unforgettable was the only one that made a little money, but The Promise, Phoenix Forgotten and Free Fire fared horribly. Each one of these movies gets a bloody mary for their efforts. But, before you think that Fate of the Furious is going to crush it, remember that it has only made $160 million domestic on a $250 million budget (although it has done incredibly well overseas).

So, make sure to look for our Wednesday “Take Out Theater” selection special for the NFL draft and our Thursday Trailer Tap before we get to the next weekend, everyone! And don’t forget, we’ll be heading to the Cabo Wabo Cantina May 7th before heading to the TCL Mann’s Chinese theater for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
