Cocktails and Movies Cocktail #5: Hot and Nutty Whiskey Sour

by Tim Barley

Raining and cold where you live? (LA). Try this on for size.

cocktails and movies hot and nutty whiskey sourKeeping this one short today. 1. I have a slight hangover thanks to friends’ awesome turkey dinner and what appeared to be an unlimited wine rack and solid 23 year aged rum, and 2. it’s raining and cold and all I really want to do is curl up under a blanket and see what’s onDemand today…

So, to take the edge off the aforementioned hangover and to keep me warm, I’ve picked this little warm concoction for all of you to enjoy:

The Drink:

Hot and Nutty Whiskey Sour

  • 3/4 cup Nocello, or other walnut-flavored liqueur
  • 1 1/2 cups whiskey or bourbon, such as Maker’s Mark
  • 3/4 cup Simple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (from 2 lemons)
Bring Nocello, whiskey, simple syrup, and lemon juice to a simmer in a medium saucepan. Divide among 4 mugs, and garnish each with a cinnamon stick.

So there you have it, everyone! Mix these up for a large group and sit back and enjoy a movie, and remember to drink in moderation and NEVER drink and drive.
