Cocktails and Movies “Harrumph Day Cocktail:” Fizzy Lifting Drinks

Honoring the man who made the character Willy Wonka come to life

Cocktails and Movies Will Wonka - dreamers of dreams

We were so saddened by the loss of Gene Wilder this week. It’s hard to believe that the man who gave us Jim the Gunslinger in Blazing Saddles, Dr. Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein, Leo Bloom in The Producers and Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is now gone from our lives. Imagine if Fred Astaire actually got the role of Willy Wonka… But, it’s that iconic role for which he will always be remembered by many generations. In that spirit, we searched the web for cocktail recipes reflecting this movie and this man and found a recipe for one of the pivotal moments in the movie. Special thanks to for letting us snake this off their site.

So, without further ado, let’s make some kick ass Mid Week Harrumph Day cocktails and slide toward the weekend…(DISCLAIMER: As always, we have to remind you youngin’s out there that alcohol is for those over 21, which the state considers “adults.” As you can imagine, if they actually met some 21 year olds, including us, they would understand that the 21 year old drinking age is arbitrary at best. Still it’s the law.)

Pour the bubble gum vodka, sweet and sour mix, vanilla vodka, strawberry vodka, and maraschino cherry juice into a cocktail shaker over ice.
Cover, and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted.
Strain into two chilled glass, and top with champagne to serve.

Chances are that you don’t have bubblegum flavored vodka in the office (we don’t), so try this one at home and watch Willy Wonka and remember a world of pure imagination.
