Cocktails and Movies Zero TheoremThe Zero Theorem

Release Date: USA date unknown

Concept: Qohen Leth is an eccentric and reclusive computer genius who lives in an Orwellian corporate world and suffers from existential angst, waiting for a phone call explaining the meaning of life. Under the instruction of a shadowy figure known only as “Management,” Qohen works to solve the “Zero Theorem:” the fate of the universe as a black hole singularity is purported to show that life has no purpose. Qohen’s work in the burnt-out chapel that serves as his home is interrupted by visits from Bainsley, a seductive woman, and Bob, the teenage son of Management.

Presenation/Spoilers: A good trailer that doesn’t do too much to spoil the movie and instead heightens the anticipation factor.

Anticipation Factor: Super high. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the mind-bending directing from Terry Gillam.

Cocktails and Movies The Fault in Our StarsThe Fault In Our Stars

Studio: 20th Century Fox

Release Date: June 6th, 2014

Concept: Hazel and Gus are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them – and us – on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.

Presenation/Spoilers: Not too much, but the blueprint for a lovely comedy.

Anticipation Factor: High, if you’re a teen or read the books. Medium for the rest of us.

Cocktails and Movies Transformers Age of ExtinctionTransformers: Age of Extinction

Studio: Paramount Pictures

Release Date: June 27th, 2014

Concept: More from your talking robots that turn into cars and this time… dinosaurs!

Presenation/Spoilers: Not much in this trailer, but we ARE introduced to the newest cast members.

Anticipation Factor: High, because at heart, we are all juvenile 15 year-olds here…

Cocktails and Movies A Million Ways to Die in the WestA Million Ways To Die In The West – Red Band

Studio: Universal Pictures

Release Date: May 30th, 2014

Concept: After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

Presenation/Spoilers: We love red band trailers and this does a great job of showcasing McFarlane’s humor with a Western tinge this time. Is it TOO much?

Anticipation Factor: For those who liked Ted: high. For those who don’t care for Seth McFarlane, low to medium.

Cocktails and Movies Captain America: The Winter SoldierCaptain America: The Winter Soldier

Studio: Walt Disney Studios

Release Date: April 4th, 2014

Concept: Two years after The Avengers, Captain Steve Rogers is residing peacefully for a while in D.C., until that is, evil doers come a calling’.

Presenation/Spoilers: Marvel does a great job of not giving away too much in a film. Rather, they give just enough to heighten the excitement.

Anticipation Factor: Extremely high. Duh.
