Alice Through The Looking Glass AliceThroughTheLookingGlass

Studio: Walt Disney Pictures
Release Date: May 27, 2016
Synopsis: Alice returns to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.
Presentation/Spoilers: This trailer is more Alice-centered than the previous trailers we have for this sequel.

Anticipation Factor: Medium-High. I’m beginning to like this movie more with the emphasis switched back on Alice. I mean it is called Alice Through The Looking Glass.  All the supporting characters are great, especially the new character of Time. The score accompanying the trailer makes the feeling that more fantastical.  This movie is definitely going to be better than the first one.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice BatmanVSuperman

Studio: Warner Bros
Release Date:
March 25, 2016
Synopsis:
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’ most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before
Presentation/Spoilers: I actually didn’t think they would be able to out the previous version.  But, they did!  Glad to see they put more emphasis on the actual Batman v Superman storyline!

Anticipation Factor: Very High!  I have been enjoying all the previous trailers they have debut but this was far above the best of the bunch! The opening Batman sequence was awesome!  I can see why the studio heads were talking up Batman and wanting more Batman movies with Ben Affleck.  It’s good they are now focused on the two main heroes for their final trailer.

Bastille Day BastilleDay

Studio:  Focus Features
Release Date:
July 13, 2016
Synopsis:
A young artist and former CIA agent embark on an anti-terrorist mission in France.
Presentation/Spoilers: Think of an updated version of 48 Hours that has a lot more action, less comedy and with a terrorism angle

Anticipation Factor: Medium. It’s a good first trailer and I’m excited to see Idris Elba get a nice leading action role. It’s good to see the Games Of Throne Robb Stark as the reluctant criminal sidekick.

– C&M-

Criminal Criminal

Studio: Lionsgate
Release Date:
April 15, 2016
Synopsis:
The memories & skills of a deceased CIA agent are implanted into an unpredictable and dangerous convict.
Presentation/Spoilers: This movie reminds me Face/Off but with memories.  Good to see Kevin Costner get back an action thriller although I have enjoyed the dramas he has done lately.

Anticipation Factor: Medium. I’m going to hold off on the High Anticipation until I see another trailer.  It’s been awhile since Costner has done an actual good action thriller.

– C&M-

Midnight Special MidnightSpecial

Studio: Warner Bros
Release Date:
March 18, 2016
Synopsis:
A father and son go on the run after the dad learns his child possesses special powers.
Presentation/Spoilers: A combination of the movies “Firestarter” and “Starman” from the 80’s.  Loved the first trailer and this second one is even better.  The score and look the film makes it even more interesting.

Anticipation Factor: High. This movie definitely has an old school look to it, which is something I like.  The trailer shows all the ingredients it has in making one heck of good looking sci-fi chase film.  It has definitely got me waiting for it to come out.

– C&M-

Mother’s Day MothersDay

Studio: Open Road Films
Release Date:
April 29, 2016
Synopsis:
Intersecting stories with different moms collide on Mother’s Day.
Presentation/Spoilers: The next entry in Gary Marshall’s holiday movie franchise.  Lol.

Anticipation Factor: Medium. The first trailer was not bad.  It had its nice & happy moments but also its sad & dramatic moments as well.  It’s got some great actors in it but I’ve seen his last two Holiday movies (Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve).  They had some problems with both of them, so I’m holding judgment on the latest one.

Our Kind Of Traitor OurKindOfTraitor

Studio:  Ink Factory
Release Date:
May 6, 2016
Synopsis:
A couple find themselves lured into a Russian oligarch’s plans to defect are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service, neither of whom they can trust.
Presentation/Spoilers: Another John Le Carre novel movie adaption!

Anticipation Factor: Medium High. Although, not everyone’s cup of tea.  I love the Le Carre’s political spy thrillers that have come out the last few years.  It’s good to see the mental, emotional, and manipulations that often accompany working on intelligence ops.  This has the makings of another good one!

The Boss (Red-Band Trailer) TheBoss

Studio: Universal
Release Date:
April 8, 2016
Synopsis:
A titan of industry is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.
Presentation/Spoilers: This just the trailer we’ve seen already but adding some of the rated R scenes.  And those added scenes … gold!

Anticipation Factor: High.  Melissa McCarthy can’t seem to miss lately.  Well at least in movies that is. She is probably the best R-rated actor or actress consistently making great comedic films.  I always get my monies worth with her and have a great laugh whenever I see her films.

The Brothers Grimbsy TheBrothersGrimsby

Studio: Sony/Columbia
Release Date:
March 11, 2016
Synopsis:
A new assignment forces a top spy to team up with his long-lost football hooligan brother.
Presentation/Spoilers: This latest trailer has more of the same … crazy antics, R-rated humor, guns, fighting, and brotherly love to boot!  A lot of hilarious moments with the not so clever brother trying to help his brother had me Lol’ing.

Anticipation Factor: Lmao High.  A big fan of Mark Strong, he has an impressive film resume for the last few years.  It’s good see him flex his comedic side and pairing him with Sascha Baron Cohen is genius.  Those two have some great chemistry which can often make or break a movie.

The Darkness TheDarkness

Studio: High Top Releasing
Release Date:
May 13, 2016
Synopsis:
A family returns from a Grand Canyon vacation with a supernatural presence in tow.
Presentation/Spoilers: A good supernatural ghost story with a Native American twist to it.

Anticipation Factor: High! Finally, a Native American horror story!  Can’t wait to see my people terrorizing a Caucasian family!  I’m going to enjoy this horror movie a lot more than I normally do.

– C&M-

The Divergent Series: Allegiant Allegiant

Studio: Lionsgate/Summitt
Release Date:
March 18, 2016
Synopsis:
Now that she has saved the city, Beatrice Prior and her companions venture into the world beyond the wall to save the world. A continuation of the hugely popular young adult books, The Divergent Series.
Presentation/Spoilers: Another great trailer for the next movie in the Divergent Series.  It looks like the battles they have fought before were just practice for their real enemies behind the wall.  It will be a nice change to see a little more action & adventure and less mind-manipulation tests than the first two movies.

Anticipation Factor: High. The Divergent Series movies are the best movie adaptions of young adult book series we have seen so far.  I think it overtook The Hunger Games because of the disappointing last two movies.  Great story, good characters and lots of twists and turns have made the first two movies enjoyable and it looks like we will be getting more of that with this movie.

– C&M-

The Huntsman: Winter’s War TheHuntsmanWW

Studio: Universal
Release Date:
April 22, 2016
Synopsis:
As two evil sisters prepare to conquer the land; two renegades – Eric the Huntsmen – who previously aided Snow White in defeating Ravenna, and his forbidden lover, Sara set out to stop them.
Presentation/Spoilers: We finally get the history of the Ice Queen and why she is the big bad villain of the movie.

Anticipation Factor: Medium-High. Now we know the history of the Ice Queen, I’m a little more excited for this movie.  Cool action sequences, great SFX, and new characters are taking this prequel movie in a new direction.

– C&M-

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot

Studio: Paramount
Release Date:
March 4, 2016
Synopsis:
A journalist recounts her wartime coverage in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Presentation/Spoilers: A movie based on the true story of the memoirs of a journalist portrayed by Tina Fey.

Anticipation Factor: Medium. I think that that Tina Fey has done quite a few good movies where she shows more of her dramatic acting abilities with some comedic moments.  Although, I enjoy her comedy but I think this is an endeavor that she excels at better.  This is not a movie where you are going to laugh throughout.  This is a drama with emotions and sprinkled with comedy.  Not her usual comedic movie with a few dramatic moments at the end of the movie.
