Studio: STX Entertainment
Release Date: June 1, 2018
Based on the true story of survival, a young couple’s chance encounter leads them first to love, and then on the adventure of a lifetime as they face one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. I love these types of movies that pits man against nature. In the case of this movie, a crippled man and a woman with no sailing experience. The weather and water SFX look good and this is definitely going to be a good movie about the human spirit. Plus, this is based on a true story as well which is something I love a lot.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date: November 16, 2018
The second installment of the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” franchise which follows the adventures of Newt Scamander.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. For a teaser trailer, they showed quite a lot and most of it was amazing. This looks like it might actually be better than the first, which was absolutely amazing. All the cast is back from the first, including a few additions particularly Jude Law. The SFX are top notch, the creatures look fantastic, and the sets are breathtaking. This shows mostly the heroic side of the movie with just a few scenes involving the evil side. I can’t wait to see that in the next trailer.

Life Itself

Studio: Amazon Studios
Release Date: September 21, 2018
The lives of people from New York to Spain intersect over the course of different generations.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I love a good ensemble movie and I am digging the different time periods this is set in as well. This has a great collection of actors assembled that will provide for a lot of dramatic and emotional moments. It will be interesting to see how all the stories are connected and how it will come together in the end.

Sorry To Bother You

Studio: Annapurna Pictures
Release Date: July 6, 2018
In an alternate present-day version of Oakland, black telemarketer Cassius Green discovers a magical key to professional success – which propels him into a macabre universe.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This looks like a pretty funny movie. I am liking this original story with a satirical look at climbing the corporate ladder. Although, I am not digging the fact that our lead must use his “white voice” to do that. Despite that there is still a lot of humor in the movie. I am looking forward to the next trailer.

The Grinch

Studio: Universal
Release Date: November 9, 2018
A grumpy Grinch plots to ruin Christmas for the village of Whoville.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I am loving this umpteenth version of the classic Dr. Seuss story. I love the scenes showing how mean the Grinch is, and love even more the scenes with Max! The animation looks great and it will be interesting to see if they make any changes to the story. I hope they do not mess it with the music they choose for it. Otherwise, I am excited to take my nephew and niece to see this.

The House Of Tomorrow

Studio: Shout! Studios
Release Date: April 8, 2018
The film tells futurist, architect, and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller’s incredible story through two teens hoping to get laid, become punk gods, and survive high school.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I am a big fan of Asa Butterfield and watch everything he does. And this looks like another good movie he has coming out. I love these “fish out of water” movies and seeing how an isolated person deals with the real world. This is going to have a lot of drama and teen angst in it and this is what will make it a great movie. I can’t wait.
