Cocktailsandmovies.com Thursday Trailer Tap

Let us share movie trailers with you with this week’s The Thursday Trailer Tap

After a few weeks of just a few trailers, this week we get a pretty decent amount. This week we have two great movie trailer, five good movie trailers and one definite stinker! This week we have SEVEN trailers we are seeing for the first time and ONE trailer for a movie we have previewed for you in the past. This week we have trailers about four ordinary guys pulling off a heist, an artistic-looking Korean romance/drama, finding a cure in a post-apocalyptic world, a gay couple has to raise a grandson, the adventures of a young Han Solo, we see how The Purge first began, a Terry Gilliam movie 17 years in the making after many failed attempts, and a pre-historic shark wrecks havoc on the modern day world!

While El Jefe mixes himself another afternoon cocktail, let’s step up to the bar before he comes back. So open your special drawer, fetch that secret stash of booze you’ve got hidden away and come see what will be in store for us moviegoers in the coming months!

I have EIGHT new trailers for you to sample from our Thursday Trailer Tap!

American Animals

Studio: The Orchard
Release Date: June 1, 2018
Synopsis:
Four young men mistake their lives for a movie and attempt one of the most audacious heists in U.S. history.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I like this trailer more than I thought I would. The story seems pretty far-fetched but I like the fact that this four ordinary guys put this caper together. I love how the trailer shows them as nobodies and parts of the planning and the beginnings of the caper. It definitely gets you interested in seeing how it all ends.

Burning

Studio: Pine House Films
Release Date: TBD
Synopsis:
Jong-soo, a part-time worker, bumps into Hae-mi while delivering, who used to live in the same neighborhood. Hae-mi asks him to look after her cat while she’s on a trip to Africa. When Hae-mi comes back, she introduces Ben, a mysterious guy she met in Africa, to Jong-soo. One day, Ben visits Jong-soo’s with Hae-mi and confesses his own secret hobby.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This is definitely an artistic and lovely looking teaser trailer. There is very little dialogue but loving that score that is playing over. A good look at the principals involved but not much else. I am a big fan of Korean movies, so it won me over easily. I can not wait to see what the full trailer shows us.

Future World

Studio: Lionsgate Premier
Release Date: May 25, 2018
Synopsis:
A young boy searches a future world wasteland for a rumored cure for his dying mother.

Anticipation Factor: LOW. What the @#$% … is this a real movie? I can believe something like this is coming to theaters. It is probably not only of the worst post-Apocalyptic movie I have seen but one of the worst movies I have seen in awhile. What is even more amazing is some of the big names in it. I am not a fan of the main lead, Suki Waterhouse, she did a post-Apocalyptic movie last year that I thought was pretty bad. That is until I saw this one. They need to really work on that next trailer in order to get people excited about seeing it. And I mean really really work on it.

Ideal Home

Studio: ICON
Release Date: June 21, 2018
Synopsis:
Erasmus and Paul, a bickering gay couple whose life is turned inside out when a ten-year old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Neither Paul, nor Erasmus, are ready to give up their extravagant lifestyles to be parents, but maybe this little kid has thing or two to teach them about the value of family.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. This was a whole lot of fun to watch. I am a fan of both Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan. Pairing them up as a gay couple is just dynamite. They work well together and then you throw in the dynamics of raising a grandson and you got gold. It reminded me a bit of the movie Big Daddy, but with a whole different spin on it. I am loving the edgy humor to it, especially from the kid. I can not wait to see the next trailer.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Studio: Buena Vista
Release Date: May 25, 2018
Synopsis:
During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

Anticipation Factor: VERY HIGH. I loved the teaser trailer, and then I loved the first trailer even more. But, this trailer is pushing my anticipation levels off the charts. I am loving the humor/cockiness that Alden Ehrenreich is given as the young Han Solo. But, it is the great looks of the Millennium Falcon in it’s new/clean state and seeing more of Chewbecca and Lando. We are learning more and more about some of the supporting characters and how Han got into the smuggling business. May 25th can not come any sooner!

The First Purge

Studio: Universal
Release Date: July 4, 2018
Synopsis:
The film will be a prequel that will focus on the events that lead up to the very first Purge event.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. The Purge series is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Ever since I was a kid watching movies, I have enjoyed watching a movie that has a high body count. Coupled that with people trying their best to stay alive and that is my kind of movie. The series had gone as far as it could, so glad to see they started from the beginning. It has everything you expected from the other three but I am loving the government corruption angle to it. It will be interesting to see how that all turns out.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

Studio: Alacran Pictures
Release Date: TBD
Synopsis:
An advertising executive jumps back and forth in time between 21st century London and 17th century La Mancha, where Don Quixote mistakes him for Sancho Panza.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. It has been a very long time that I have been waiting for this movie to hit the big screen. It has had many attempts with various different actors throughout the years. The movie looks superb with a lot of the fantasy adventure that Terry Gilliam is known for. I like the choice of Jonathan Pryce but the choice of Adam Driver. So it is a wash right there. Other than that, it has a lot of things going for it … story, scenery, costumes, set design, and it just looks like a lot of fun.

The Meg

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date: August 10, 2018
Synopsis:
After escaping an attack by what he claims was by a 70-foot shark, Jonas Taylor must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submersible.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This reminds me a lot of Deep Blue Sea, but taken to the next level. This is a movie that I heard about a number of years that has finally been made. And I must say that despite the unbelievableness of it, it sure looks like a lot fun. This is definitely going to be a popcorn movie. Plus, it has Jason Statham in the lead role. You can not go too wrong with him in a film. It will be interesting to see how he stops the Meg without a car or his martial art fighting abilities.
