A Simple Favor

Studio: Lionsgate
Release Date: September 14, 2018
A SIMPLE FAVOR, centers around Stephanie, a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily’s sudden disappearance from their small town.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This is slightly better than the teaser trailer that came out a few weeks ago but barely. Most of the trailer is a lot of animation but we do get a better look at more of the look into the police investigation and trouble that Emily might be in. I like a good murder mystery or disappearance investigation. But, it will be interesting to see it from the vantage point of a regular person who has no skill in doing that.

Christopher Robin

Studio: Buena Vista
Release Date: August 3, 2018
A working-class family man, Christopher Robin, encounters his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh, who helps him to rediscover the joys of life.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. I did not care too much for the teaser trailer but this first full trailer has gotten me excited. I use to enjoy reading and watching Winnie The Pooh and friends when I was a kid. The Goodbye Christopher Robin movie kind of soured me about everything. But, watching this trailer really transported me back to my childhood. I loved seeing the characters in real-life and the SFX were pretty good. There were a lot of emotional moments that made me smile, especially when they all decide to come and help Christopher Robin. I can not wait to see this movie.

Ocean’s 8

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date:
June 8, 2018
Debbie Ocean gathers a crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City’s yearly Met Gala.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I am not really into this movie as I would think. I love Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett, but they appear to be almost mirror images of Clooney and Pitt in their roles. Also, you almost cannot think that Anne Hathaway is in on the caper as well. Because if she is the person they are stealing, she’s not much of a villain or victim. Putting together the caper, seeing it executed, and getting away is the only real draw in watching this.

Sicario: Day Of The Soldado

Studio: Sony / Columbia
Release Date: June 29, 2018
The drug war on the US-Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver re-teams with the mercurial Alejandro.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. The first Sicario was one of my favorite movies of 2015 and this sequel looks even better. I love how they upped the intensity of the action, drama, and suspense for this movie. Josh Brolin and Benecio del Toro were the best parts of the first movie, so I love how they are the focus of this one. What is going to make this one even better is when the two are pitted against one another. Which of the two is going to come out victorious? I can’t wait to find out.

The Sisters Brothers

Studio: Annapurna Pictures
Release Date: TBD
In 1850s Oregon, a gold prospector is chased by the infamous duo of assassins, the Sisters brothers.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. I am a big westerns fan since I was a kid. I have been enjoying most of the ones coming out the last few years. And this looks like it might be the best that I have seen in awhile. I love the combination of Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly as the brothers, they have good chemistry with one another. Add in Jake Gyllenhaal as the guy protecting the guy they are after and it should be good. The movie looks like it has a lot of action & humor and a good storyline.  I cannot wait for this to get here.

Upgrade   (Red-band)

Studio: BH Tilt
Release Date: June 1, 2018
Set in the near-future, technology controls nearly all aspects of life. But when Grey, a self-identified technophobe, has his world turned upside down, his only hope for revenge is an experimental computer chip implant called Stem.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. This latest red-band trailer bumped up my A.F. up to Medium-High. It reminds me of Death Wish but with a technological twist. I know it may put off some people off but I love the extreme violence that we just saw. I love it when the bad guys get what they deserve. Luckily, I only have to wait another day to see this on the big screen.
