Are you sitting in your cubicle with stacks of TPS reports to go through? Listening to that conference call where everyone is talking at the same time about nothing at all that matters? Stuck at the water cooler hearing how Spider-Man: Homecoming was the best Spider-Man movie ever! Need something to watch with that flask in your desk and that burned microwave popcorn from the break room? Let us share movie trailers with you.

It looks like I should have not gotten too excited about how many movie trailers we had last week. As it seems like I might have jinxed us this week. This week we have FOUR movies we have previewed for you already in the past. This week we have trailers about Mother Nature going wild, a Mother trying to rescue her kidnapped son, The Gunslinger comes to Earth to take on The Man In Black, and a daughter grows up and deals with her eccentric parents!

While El Jefe mixes himself another afternoon cocktail, let’s step up to the bar before he comes back.  So open your special drawer, fetch that secret stash of booze you’ve got hidden away and come see what will be in store for us moviegoers in the coming months!

I have FOUR new trailers for you to sample from our Thursday Trailer Tap!

Geostorm     Geostorm

Studio: Skydance Media
Release Date:
October 20, 2017
Synopsis:
When the network of satellites designed to control the global climate start to attack Earth, it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. After a few trailers that has shown us a lot of weather gone wrong. We finally got a look at the actors, dialogue, and what the cause of the global natural disasters is. Overall, we have a few good scenes and a few bad/cheesy moments to balance it out. I expected a bit more from the actors in this. The one saving grace is the natural disasters and it’s SFX. Otherwise, it would be a movie to not even consider.

Kidnap     KidnapA

Studio: Aviron
Release Date:
August 4, 2017
Synopsis:
A mother stops at nothing to recover her kidnapped son.

Anticipation Factor: LOW. I have been hoping that each new trailer that debuts for this movie would change my A.F. about it. Unfortunately, it has not. I thought her movie The Call was her worst movie, but I spoke too soon. I think she has been on a slow downward spiral since winning her Oscar. This movie has a straight to DVD feel to it as the storyline seems blah, and there is not too much to get excited about.

The Dark Tower     TheDarkTower

Studio: Sony / Columbia
Release Date:
August 4, 2017
Synopsis:
The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, roams an Old West-like landscape where “the world has moved on” in pursuit of the man in black. Also searching for the fabled Dark Tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. This still looks amazing! This trailer focuses more on the Gunslinger Roland played by Idris Elba, and Matthew McConaughey as the Man In Black. We see a few new scenes with them that makes them even more interesting and dangerous. The action sequences for this are cool and the SFX for this are impressive. The movie has an excellent combination of fantasy, adventure, action, monsters and sorcery. This is going to be awesome!

The Glass Castle     TheGlassCastle

Studio: Lionsgate
Release Date:
August 11, 2017
Synopsis:
A young girl comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads with a mother who’s an eccentric artist and an alcoholic father who would stir the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. I am loving how this trailer looks at things from the daughter’s perspective instead of the family from it’s first trailer. This movie has the “based on a true story” angle that I love. But, what is impressive about this movie is the great acting that is showcased. Brie Larson is showcasing her acting ability that won her an Oscar. Naomi Watts and Woody Harrelson show their acting chops as her eccentric parents. This is a kind of story that children of hippie parents can relate to. But it is also chock full of lots of family drama & emotion moments.
