Studio: Buena Vista
Release Date: May 24, 2019
A live-action retelling of the 1992 Disney film of the same name.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. As we all know, I am not a big teaser trailer fan. Disney has been killing it with this live-action remakes of Disney animated movies. From what little we seen in the trailer, the locations/set designs look great. We get a good look at Aladdin, but it is the Genie that really made the movie. So hope we get to see him soon. Otherwise, it is a solid start.

Studio: Annapurna Pictures
Release Date: December 25, 2018
A police detective reconnects with people from an undercover assignment in her distant past in order to make peace.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. Wow! This role reminds me a lot of Charlize Theron‘s turn in Monster. By far, this looks like the best performance by Nicole Kidman yet. Her character has a lot of emotional baggage which enhances her dramatic/emotional performance. I think this can garnish her award nominations next year. The story looks great as does the supporting cast. I guess we all get an extra Christmas present this year.

Studio: Universal
Release Date: January 18, 2019
Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. I was a big fan of Unbreakable and enjoyed Split. Now we have Glass, which brings those two movies together. The first trailer was good, but this one is even better. I love how we focus on Mr. Glass and how he concocts a plan to reveal themselves to the world. But, it is going to be the battle between good and evil that really makes the movie. I love the returning cast (Bruce, Sam, and James) from both movies. The storyline looks good and enhances the comic book theme from Unbreakable. This is going to be an awesome finale to the trilogy.

High Life

Studio: Andrew Lauren Productions
Release Date: TBD
A father and his daughter struggle to survive in deep space where they live in isolation.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. I am a big Sci-Fi fan so I am always drawn to them. This reminds me of a more stripped down version of Passengers but with more people and from the opposite spectrum of humanity. Robert Pattinson has been impressing me with his work after he finished with those god-awful Twilight movies. The rest of the cast looks solid as well, especially Juliette Binoche, I am loving the story and it will be interesting to see where the movie goes with the crazy doctor. Hopefully it gets to the States soon.

Pet Sematary

Studio: Paramount Pictures
Release Date: April 5, 2019
Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie ‘Pet Sematary’ located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I am not a big fan of remakes but this one actually might better than the original. I mean the original was not a masterpiece or classic, so it is not too hard to be better. The cast is better and I see they change up a bit of the storyline. I am glad they did not show too much of the horrific parts, other than that creepy as f#$% cat. This is going to be a lot of fun.

The Kid Who Would Be King

Studio: 20th Century Fox
Release Date: January 25, 2019
A band of kids embark on an epic quest to thwart a medieval menace.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. Holy smokes! This looks like it is going to be a whole lot of fun. I am a fan of the King Arthur mythology and I am loving this re-imagining with children. At first I was hesitant but there were a lot of funny and good moments. I like how they have to work with their bullies and the rest of the school children to defeat Morgana and her undead army. The SFX and VFX look good, and it will be interesting to see what exactly they do with the Arthurian legend.

The Possession Of Hannah Grace

Studio: Sony / Screen Gems
Release Date: November 30, 2018
When a cop who is just out of rehab takes the graveyard shift in a city hospital morgue, she faces a series of bizarre, violent events caused by an evil entity in one of the corpses.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. There have been a plethora of Exorcism movies the last few years, most of them just ok and make a very few pretty good. But, this looks like it might be the best one of our modern times. There was a lot of creepy and freaky looking moments. They kept the scarier scenes to a minimum, which is good. This movie is definitely going to scare the sh!t out of moviegoers.
