Cocktails and Movies and Trailers, Oh My! Thursday Trailer Tap
Are you sitting in your cubicle with stacks of TPS reports to go through? Listening to that conference call where everyone is talking at the same time about nothing at all that matters? Stuck at the water cooler hearing how IT almost bounced back and took the top spot at the box office! Need something to watch with that flask in your desk and that burned microwave popcorn from the break room? Let us share movie trailers with you. Now that the summer season is a distant image in our rear-view mirror, we have gotten a lot more movie trailers to view for this week’s The Thursday Trailer Tap

This week is one of the slowest weeks we have ever had. This week we have TWO trailers we are seeing for the first time and TWO new trailers for movies we have previewed in the past. This week we have trailers about Winston Churchill, two brothers try to find out who their father is, everyone’s favorite bear is back, and the latest from Woody Allen!

While El Jefe mixes himself another afternoon cocktail, let’s step up to the bar before he comes back. So open your special drawer, fetch that secret stash of booze you’ve got hidden away and come see what will be in store for us moviegoers in the coming months!

I have FOUR new trailers for you to sample from our Thursday Trailer Tap!

Darkest Hour

Studio: Focus Features
Release Date: November 22, 2017
During the early days of World War II, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Hitler, or fight on against incredible odds.

Anticipation Factor: HIGH. This is easily the best of the trailers I have seen so far. I love the emphasis on the drama, stress, and military aspect of what Winston Churchill went through. This is a very well-done film about the behind the scenes of a historic event. Gary Oldman looks outstanding and almost unrecognizable as Churchill. His performance is definitely nomination worthy and maybe finally nab him his first Oscar!

Father Figures

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date: December 22, 2017
Upon learning that their mother has been lying to them for years about their allegedly deceased father, two fraternal twin brothers hit the road in order to find him.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This latest movie trailer is better now that they toned down the raunchiness and craziness. I think Owen Wilson and Ed Helms have a good comedic chemistry. They also have some good actors playing their possible fathers, who definitely provide different kinds of comedic situations. Glenn Close has shown some good comedic skills, so it will be fun to see as their mom. This definitely has the potential to be good, let’s hope the R-rated aspects of it does not take away from it.

Paddington 2

Studio: Weinstein / Dimension
Release Date: January 12, 2018
Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. Everything I loved about the first movie is definitely present in this sequel. The FX for Paddington is very well-done and looks definitely real. I am loving the crazy antics and situations that Paddington gets into. That was what made the first one so good. I love the addition of Hugh Grant, he definitely makes for a great villain. This might be one of those rare occasions where the sequel is better than the original.

Wonder Wheel

Studio: Amazon Studios
Release Date: December 1, 2017
On Coney Island in the 1950s, a lifeguard tells the story of a middle-aged carousel operator and his beleaguered wife.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. Woody Allen is back! This looks like it might be his best movie since Midnight In Paris. Kate Winslet is a great choice to headline this movie, she gives another wonderful performance. She has some great co-stars in Jim Belushi, Juno Temple, and Justin Timberlake to work with. I love the look and feel of 1950’s Coney Island, it’s almost like it’s one of the lead characters much like Paris was. I can not wait to see what the next trailer shows us.
