Avengers: Infinity War

Studio: Buena Vista
Release Date: May 4, 2018
As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Anticipation Factor: VERY HIGH. This has been a trailer that I and millions of fans have been eagerly awaiting. And let’s say that our first look at the next Avengers movie does not disappoint. So many super-heroes in this trailer and they still did not show everyone. I love how they mingle with the older heroes with the newer heroes. But, the best part is easily seeing Thanos come to Earth, kicking ass, and talking/terrorizing Earth’s Mightest Heroes. The action sequences look amazing, especially that huge battle in Wakanda. I mean even the individual voice-overs and Avengers theme music gave me chills. I really love this but it will be great to see this in the theatres when I watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Love, Simon

Studio: 20th Century Fox
Release Date: March 16, 2018
Everyone deserves a great love story. But for Simon it’s complicated: no-one knows he’s gay and he doesn’t know who the anonymous classmate is that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, scary and life-changing.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-HIGH. This looks like a pretty good coming-of-age story. I think that the gay subject matter will give it a fresh new spin. I am a fan of Nick Robinson, he is an upcoming and impressive young talent. This movie has a lot of potential and has a good combination of drama, emotion, and humor to it. I have enjoyed a number of wonderful gay-themed movies this year. Which looks like it will continue on into the new year.

Mary Magdalene

Studio: Universal
Release Date: March 30, 2018
The story of Mary Magdalene.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. This seems like it might be an interesting movie. I am not sure if I have seen a movie about Mary Magdalene before as the main subject, mostly just as a supporting character. Even though I am not a religious person, I do enjoy watching biblical movies. Rooney Mara has become a wonderful actress over the last years with an impressive resume of eclectic roles. She looks good in this role, however I am having a bit of trouble seeing Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus Christ. I hope the next trailer can alleviate that concern of mine.

Paddington 2

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date: January 12, 2018
Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM. I enjoyed the first one immensely and it appears that this second one might be just as good. This latest trailer shows more of the comedic element of the movie, but it more about family that made the first one so good. I am anxious to see how good Hugh Grant is as a bad guy, hopefully he will not be an idiotic villain. Luckily, we will not have to wait too long for this to hit the big screen.

Studio: Warner Bros.
Release Date: September 28, 2018
A Yeti is convinced that the elusive creatures known as “humans” really do exist.

Anticipation Factor: MEDIUM-LOW. It’s an interesting idea of turning the Bigfoot mythology around and making humans the monsters. It was funny to see the Bigfoot react to humans the way humans react to Bigfoot. I am not a fan of the animation or how the Bigfoot look. This is a decent first look, so let us how the next trailers give us a little more to get excited about.
