cocktails and movies whaddya go on tap 5.11.17

Well, cocktailers, we’ve gotten through another week. Some of us in the Cocktails and Movies offices are still struggling after last weekend’s fun event at the TCL Chinese Theater and Cabo Wabo Cantina for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. This week is a return to normal and three new releases vying for your money. Not much for the kids this weekend, but they’ve had a good run this year so let’s give a little to the adults this weekend.

So, without further thought in the matter, let’s grab a cocktail and head out to the theater…

Three new wide releases this weekend.

Official Synopsis: Robbed of his birthright, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy – whether he likes it or not.’s Take: Guy Ritchie AND the King Arthur story?!?! Right!?!?

 91 mins

Official Synopsis: When her boyfriend dumps her before their exotic vacation, a young woman persuades her ultra-cautious mother to travel with her to paradise, with unexpected results.’s Take: (Tim): I love Amy Schumer, but the more I see trailers, the more I think I’ve seen all the funny stuff already. Still, this could surprise.

Duwayne’s Pick: King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword! I am a big Guy Ritchie fan, so I see everything he does. I also like the King Arthur legend, so it will be interesting to see Guy’s interpretation of the mythology. It has a good cast, especially villain in Jude Law, lots of action, fights, and battle sequences. So it looks like we will be in for one heck of a ride!

Tim’s Pick: I agree with Duwayne and besides checking out Guardians for a second time on Saturday, I’m going to find time to go see King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

The Weekend Top Five (predicted by Tim):

1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – no doubt this will stay in the number two spot, but by how much?

Estimated Weekend: $42 million

3. Snatched – having some doubts about this one the more I see the trailers…
Estimated Weekend: $20 million

4. Fate of the Furious – this one is starting to run out of gas…
Estimated Weekend: $5 million

5. The Boss Baby – something for the kids still
Estimated Weekend: $2 million
