Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 08/18/17

Summer winds down as two movie with big names casts try to win the box office title whaddya got on tap 8.18.17

Two new “guy” movies open this weekend with some big names as this lackluster, someone would say terrible, box office summer quickly moves to a close. But, Jackson/Reynolds take on Tatum/Driver/Craig are looking to change all that and add some much needed money to the summer coffers.

We’ll take a look at the Summer ’17 box office in post Labor Day, but for now, here’s hoping that it can squeeze out a couple of good weekends as we ask you, “Whaddya Got On Tap?”

They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial on time.’s TakeWe had high hopes for this from the moment we heard about this movie, but the more trailers we see, the more it feels like the best has already aired.

Duwayne’s Pick: The Hitman’s Bodyguard! I had a chance to see this movie already. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are great together, they have great frenemy chemistry. Salma Hayek is hilarious whenever she’s on screen. The movie has a lot of over-the-top action, and it is pretty funny throughout. You will definitely get your money’s worth if you see it this weekend.

Mike’s Pick: 

Tim’s Pick: I’m on vacation, so I’m pretty much seeing whatever mom and dad want to see here in mid-Michigan…

1. The Hitman’s Bodyguard – of the new movies, this should eke out a win
Estimated Weekend: $35 million

2. Logan Lucky – coming in a close second place
Estimated Weekend: $32 million

3. Annabelle: The Awakening – people still want to be scared, as if Summer ending and back to school wasn’t enough
Estimated Weekend: $17 million

4. Dunkirk – a great movie that should be seen on 70mm if you can find it
Estimated Weekend: $8 million

5. The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature – somehow this is a movie
Estimated Weekend: $7 million
