Red Sparrow soars to number two at the box office

Red sparrow monday morning hangover reportWhile the industry patted itself on the back this weekend with the Independent Spirit Awards and The Oscars, a few people went to the movies and enjoyed some quality fare. Two new movies made it to the top two spots in the top three. But, Black Panther continues its run in the number one spot, and we were pretty close to our “Whaddya Got on Tap” projections last Friday. We didn’t give Red Sparrow  much chance, but it did beat Death Wish. Just about everything else stayed the same.

So, let’s take a look at the numbers and get into this morning as we bring you the Monday Morning Hangover Report. Best Movies of 2017 – Golden Flask Awards

by Tim Barley

Our first annual Golden Flask Awards include some fun times golden flask awards

As the Oscars are upon us this weekend, I thought I’d take a look at what I thought were the best movies of 2017. No slight meant to great movies like Dunkirk, The Shape of Water and others, but they didn’t make my list. They are great movies. But, there are reasons that I go to the movies and created and they weren’t always to see the “it” movie. No pun intended. It’s to be entertained, to laugh and to wonder, and on a very rare occasion, shed a tear. So, not necessarily the best artistically or overall best picture, these movies were the ones that were the best for Cocktails and Movies.

Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 03/02/18

Wishes and a pretty bird vie for Black Panther’s throne in a light weekend

Whaddya Got on Tap 2.2.18

Black Panther continues to reign at the box office, surpassing even the most optimistic outlooks on it’s box office take. While we think that it has yet another $50 million box office weekend, there are a lot of movies coming out in the next month and next 90 days that will have all our money.

This week, it’s a return to the 70’s and 80’s as we return to Cold War Era spy movies and a reboot of a violent anti-violence movie that made a house hold name of Charles Bronson. So, let’s take a look at the weekend and ask you, “Whaddya Got on Tap?” Thursday Trailer Tap – 03/01/18
