Hello, Cocktailers!
Do you like cocktails? Movies? Cocktails AND movies? Have you always wanted to write for the inter-webs and have your work seen by people other than your parents and significant other?
Then join us at Cocktails and Movies and write about either industry or both! We are looking to grow ex-po-nen-tially in 2017, and we need your help. We offer the possibility of experience and fun and getting you experience in writing great copy (why our very own Mike Reyes parlayed what he did for us to become an editor at Cinemablend).
But, it’s not just writers and content providers we’re looking for. We need great interviewers as we introduce “Have a Drink With Us” (celebrity interviews) and great reviewers (we’ve been invited to some great premieres…), as well as some good website help, videographers to create cocktail videos and so much more.
Send us an email to info@cocktailsandmovies and introduce yourself to us and share with us what you have done and what you’d like to do.

Cocktails for a Tuesday

by Tim Barley

Today in SoCal, it’s gray and foggy, so that’s what we’re drinking…

This is considered "gray" today.

This is considered “gray” today.

Looking outside the window today, it’s just begging for us to turn on the DVD player (yes, we are “old school”) and pop in a movie. But, it’s also a great day to imbibe a cocktail or two (or three) while watching said movie. We searched far and wide for a cocktail to make today that would keep us warm and refresh us as well. So, we found a variation of the classic cocktail the “Dark and Stormy.”

It’s calle the “Gray and Foggy.”

The Cocktails and Movies Holiday Movie Outlook

by Tim Barley

Something for everyone this holiday season

Cocktails And Movies - Holiday EditionHello, cocktailers! It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything what with a European trip to experience the true “Octoberfest” experience, which turned into more of a Beerfest three day binge in Munich. We also visited an actual movie set (Spectral) and had a great time. Look for this movie in late 2015, early 2016.

It’s been a tough year for the movies studios. Year over year, box office receipts were down 15% from last year’s huge box office total. Only one studio (20th Century Fox) managed to outdo its 2013 B.O. All other major movie studios were down significantly. And we can see why: there just wasn’t much to hold audiences after the first three months of the year. There was also that pesky World Cup thing going on…

But, we enter the holiday season. It’s like second Summer for movie studios and a last ditch effort to make some bottom lines until 2015 (which looks a-mazing!). So, I took a little look ahead and wanted to share my thoughts on some movies that are slated to come out the remainder of 2014. Just a note: I am not discussing Interstellar, Big Hero 6 and Dumb and Dumber, To. The first two come out this week, and well, I don’t know what to think about D&DT…

Cocktails and Movies Weekend Wrap Session

Fall is upon us with shorter days, longer nights and more time at the theaters with Cocktails and Movies

Cocktails and Movies hugh jackman prisoners Weekend Wrap SessionThis past weekend, people were held as Prisoners at the box office by their Insidious Family members as the box office slipped back  into “September usual,” with maybe just a minor boost, and two returning victors. Prisoners looks like a solid Oscar lock for some dark and moving performances that Oscar loves from dramatic performances. And, the folks at Film District are probably looking at new cars, boats and homes with as well as Insidious Chapter 2  is doing. Having said that, here’s a look at this weekend’s Box Office Estimates:
