Cocktails and Movies Weekend “Flicks To Pick” – 1/24-1/26

This week on Flicks To Pick: One New Release… and Nothing Else.

cocktails and movies Flicks to Pick 1.24.14We’re not going to lie to you, it looks like a pretty rough weekend with very slim pickings at the box office. You know it’s bad when movie criticism podcasts struggle picking what films to review on their podcasts, only to decide they’re going to fill the rest of the month with older, previous film reviews. However, there are some superior films that are already well into (or just going wider into) their Box Office run that are sitting in theaters near you.  With all that being said today, go back into our review archives by searching out a film you want to see, see what we liked, and consider that our official recommendation.

Anyway, here is this weekend’s only new commercial release:

Cocktails and Movies “Flicks To Pick” – January 10th – 12th, 2014

This week on Flicks To Pick: More Of The Same… Or Is It?

Cocktails and Movies Flicks to Pick 1.10.14

Friday’s here, and the time is right, for #FlicksToPick in the street! We seem to have an off weekend ahead of us, as all of the Wide Releases are films that have been out already in limited, awards qualification release. The only real new blood this weekend is a Hercules movie, and it’s not the Ratner one we’re scheduled for this Summer starring The Rock… it’s a knockoff with one of the kids from Twilight! So it’s really anyone’s game this weekend.

Don’t forget that this Sunday is the Golden Globes. Follow us on Twitter (@cocktailsmovies) as we live tweet the event all night long from start to finish! Now, on with the show!

Cocktails and Movies Flicks to Pick For January 3rd – 5th

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones looks to scare away the competition this weekend

cocktails and movies Flicks to Pick 1.3.14Finally, we have turned the corner and made it to 2014! We’ve been hit-and-miss with our duties for the last two weeks or so with travel, ice storms, snow storms, and a whole lot of cocktails being made and sussed out for your enjoyment during our “30 Days of Cocktails and Movies,” which also featured our “12 Days of Christmas Cocktails!” It was tough on scheduling and even tougher on our livers! But, we’re back and minus today’s snow in the East and supposedly two more rolling across the nation in the next 7-10 days, we’ll be back on schedule to bring you so much in 2014! Besides, it’s eternally sunny and 70 here at the home office in Hermosa Beach, CA. (as it is inside your local theater…)

Cocktails and Movies Flicks to Pick: Dec 13th, 2013

This week on Flicks To Pick: The Hobbit wins. Who’s coming in Second?

Flicks to Pick December 13th 1And a happy #FlicksToPick weekend to you all, dear readers! Looks like we have another round of snow heading our way, which is perfect movie watching weather. Though we’ll admit, it’s not the best strategy for driving to a movie, so we suggest getting to your local theater early, locating the nearest restaurant/bar within walking distance, ask the bartender to make something from our “30 Holi-DAYS of Cocktails and Movies” cocktail list we’ve been sharing with you so far this month, and making it a marathon! (And NEVER drink and drive! We’re safety conscious here, folks. We wouldn’t have it any other way.) Inclement weather, Golden Globe nominations, or any other potential disaster aside… let’s see what headed to screens this weekend!

Cocktails and Movies “Flicks to Pick” for December 6th, 2013

This week on Cocktails and Movies “Flicks To Pick:” dark and grey to win the day?

Cocktails and Movies Flicks to Pick December 6thIt’s time for another weekend of #FlicksToPick, the column where we predict what’s going to fly and what’s going to flop!

As per usual we have a couple of contenders ready to try and take a run at the entrenched hits of the past couple of weeks. Most likely, you’re going to see Frozen and Catching Fire stick around near the top again this week. However, after last week’s high rate of turnover amongst the top money makers, anything could (and usually does) go. So, it’s possible that we could see a new number one movie at the top! Here we go with this weekend’s Flicks To Pick!
