CocktailsandMovies.com favorite movies about Labor Day

It’s  Labor Day everyone, and that’s means one last day to get together with friends, enjoying some grilling on the BBQ and getting drunk enough to have a hangover big enough to wear sunglasses all day Tuesday in the office. But, it’s also a great day to sit back with a cocktail or two and enjoy a great movie about work. We’ve selected a few movies for this day, with some help from the staff, for you to relax and prep yourself for Tuesday and the stretch run for the remainder of the year.

Cocktails and Movies Review: “The Internship” – Job Well Done!

Part 2 of Cocktails and Movies Double Feature Wednesday was surprisingly good

Cocktails and Movies Internship Poster

Swing! And a miss…

Thanks to Mother Nature’s gift of rain yesterday, we were able to take a field trip and get caught up on movies. Our second half of the day was spent with a couple of good buddies, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, who we last saw in “Wedding Crashers.” Now, they team up as a couple of watch salesman who have lost their jobs at an age when it’s next to impossible to find a new one: their 40’s, in the new movie “The Internship.” This was a pick on Tim’s Summer 2013 list of movies to see, and we are 1. glad we got to see it and 2. disappointed it hasn’t done as well as it should be doing. We posit some theories on why that is later.

Cocktails and Movies: Weekend Review – “Wait, what Happened?”

by Tim Barley and mike reyes

Cocktails and Movies Winds Back The Weekend of June 6th – 9th

What did YOU see this weekend? Cocktails and Movies knows, and we’re not afraid to prove it!

cocktails and movies The Purge

Welcome to The Purge… It’s a killer.

If this past weekend wasn’t an unpredictable skirmish, then you must have been sitting in the bargain theater where Iron Man 3 is still kicking some ass in AAA ball. We went two out of three with the top slots, putting too much faith in one property and not enough in the other. Mr. and Mrs. movie-goer, you continue to surprise us and that’s fine with us! Just so long as we know about it in advance. (Hey, this prediction market is a good way to make a name for yourself in the industry…)

Cocktails and Movies: Weekend Flicks to Pick

BY TIM BARLEY AND MIKE REYES

weekend flicks to pickThe second weekend of June is upon us, and we here at Cocktails and Movies are ready to enjoy a little “Purge…”

It’s another weekend here at Cocktails and Movies with two more midlevel contenders ready to knock some big names down a couple pegs on the box office ladder. In one corner is a comedic reunion of two powerhouses of humor – aging, but ready to try and reclaim their former glory while poking fun at the unemployment crisis. In the other corner, a lean and mean street fighter of a horror flick which depicts a dystopian future in which all crime is allowed for one night, and the family which has to do all it can to “survive the night.” Our competitors will have to fight each other, as well as the rest of the Hollywood roost, so let’s ring the opening bell and announce this week’s new contenders.

Cocktails and Movies Presents: Summer 2013 Movies To See

By Tim Barley and Mike Reyes

Cocktails and Movies’ Tim and Mike Pick The Movies To See This Summer!

Summer is almost here! That means BIG movies. In the industry they are called “tent pole releases.” They have big budgets. And big stars. The studios hope that you’ll spend your hard earned paper route money going to see them again. And again. And again… Not all movies are made equally and not all recoup their budgets. But, we think that we’ve picked a number of films that will both entertain AND make a boat load of money.
