Whaddya Got On Tap? – Week of 04/29/16

by Tim Barley and Duwayne Tso

Cats compete with children and cartoon characters this week

Whaddya Got On tap 4.29.16

This is an abbreviated version this week as the office preps for our first event of 2016, which will be Keanu at Arclight Beach Cities this weekend on Sunday. But, if you’re not into Key & Peele, or kittens, there are a couple of other movies this weekend, including an animated feature and a new movie from Gary Marshall.

So, keeping it short, let’s see what’s new this week.

Three new wide releases this weekend:

Distributor: Warner Bros.
Starring: Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Nia Long, Will Forte, and Method Man
Director: Peter Atencio
Rating: R
Run Time: 98 mins

Official Synopsis: Friends hatch a plot to retrieve a stolen kitten by posing as drug dealers for a street gang.

CocktailsandMovies.com’s Take: Really looking forward to this movie as we grab the office and our friends and go see a movie!

Mother’s Day

Distributor: Open Road Films
Starring: Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudekis, Britt Robertson, and Timothy Olyphant
Director: Garry Marshall
Rating: PG-13
Run Time: 118 mins

Official Synopsis: Three generations come together in the week leading up to Mother’s Day.

CocktailsandMovies.com’s Take: There’s a reason why they market this movie “from the director that brought you Pretty Woman…” This could be another bad Gary Marshall film with lots of stars.

Ratchet & Clank

Distributor: Focus Features
Starring: James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward
Director: Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland
Rating: PG
Run Time: 94 mins

Official Synopsis: When the galaxy comes under the threat of a nefarious space captain, a mechanic and his newfound robot ally join an elite squad of combatants to save the universe.

CocktailsandMovies.com’s Take: Good for kids, so we’ll hear about it from our nieces and nephews.

Duwayne’s Pick: Keanu! The movie trailers have been crazy good. It looks like it’s going to be a good time at the theatre laughing at this one. I’m just hoping that not all the best stuff was in the trailer.

Tim’s Pick: While it might be a few stretched Key & Peele skits strung together, it has kittens and looks like some good fun. So, we’re in.

3. Ratchet & Clark – something for the kids that still has to compete with The Jungle Book
